Year 11 History students of Chilton Trinity Technology College recently took part in a weekend of events at Kilve Court aimed at increasing their knowledge of History in preparation for their GCSE's. The weekend was packed with events from pod-casting (recording voices onto computer)to acting. As well as promoting Historical knowledge the weekend had many team building activities. A disco and awards ceremony were were just a small part of this. Having created many resources, in the form of audio and video files, the students are now able to download these from the departments very own website: www.thehistorysite.co.uk and will be able to play the pod-casts on an MP3 player to aid revision. During the Saturday students took a visit to the West Somerset Railway, this was designed to help them with the second part of their GCSE course where they need to answer questions based on the development of the railway. The West Somerset were extremely helpful in providing students with a guided tour and a demonstration of signaling and safety features. The weekend was a massive success with all students having had a great time as well as learning and revising some extremely valuable information. Mr Collinge, a member of the history team said "Our students were exceptional, in both their behaviour and willingness to take part. It is essential for students to revise history and to be passionate about what they do. We hope this trip will have helped in both of these areas, helping them to succeed in what is a very challenging year for every GCSE student" Further photos and the pod-casts are available to download from the website, as well information on the history courses offered at Chilton Trinity and work from all the other year groups.
